Troubleshooting a no water heat or heated dry problem in a Whirlpool dishwasher

We troubleshot a weird no-heat complaint on a Whirlpool-built (Kenmore branded) dishwasher. This was Whirlpool’s newer Global Wash System (GWS) platform dishwasher.
